Sound Bath & Yin yin yoga with a live sound bath

Slow, held yin shapes with live sound around you, then a long savasana inside the bowls.

Graham teams up with a yin yoga teacher. For the first half, the teacher guides you through a restorative yin flow while Graham plays a live sound bath. For the second half, you settle into an extended savasana, a sound meditation with crystal singing bowls and a whole bunch of other instruments. No gong, so it stays soft the whole way through.

Two halves, one long exhale

  • First half: yin with live sound. Slow, supported floor shapes guided by the yin teacher, while Graham plays live around the room.
  • Second half: extended savasana. You lie down and stay down. The sound takes over: crystal singing bowls and a whole bunch of other instruments.
  • No gong. The sound stays gentle from start to finish.

Is it for me?

If you like yin or restorative yoga, or you’ve wanted to try a sound bath but lying still for an hour sounds like a lot, this is a good way in. The yin half lets your body arrive before the long rest.

Want sound without the yoga? Sound Lab runs on Sundays.

How the class goes

  1. Arrive and settle

Set up your mat and props and let the room get quiet.

  2. Yin with live sound

The yin teacher guides slow, held shapes while Graham plays live around you.

  3. Transition

The shapes come to an end and you ease down to lie flat.

  4. Extended savasana

A long sound meditation with crystal singing bowls and a whole bunch of other instruments. No gong.

  5. Come back slowly

The sound fades. Take your time before you sit up.

The essentials

  • Wear soft layers you can stretch and rest in. Your body cools as you settle.
  • Arrive a little early to set up before the room gets quiet.
  • Tell the yin teacher about any injuries or anything to go easy on before class.
  • Modify freely. Every shape can be softened, supported or skipped.
  • Bring water for after.
  • Keep the space above your head clear. Graham moves through the room while he plays.
