Concert pitch. Plays in tune with most other instruments.
The low end on its own: a 20-inch C and a 16-inch G, its fifth. Sung together they make a wide, open drone you feel as much as hear, the floor a sound bath rests on.
The three-bowl set adds a 12-inch C, the octave above the root, to lift the drone without crowding it. On its own or beneath bowls you already have.
Pitch is an art and a science
Crystal bowls are made by hand, and each one can sit a few cents above or below its exact pitch. That's part of its character, and it can be adjusted. The simplest way is water tuning: a little water in the bowl lowers its pitch, so a bowl that sits sharp can be brought into step with the rest of a set, by ear or with a tuner.
